Here are some of my thoughts on how exercise can help with mental health.

– Reduces stress and anxiety: Exercise helps to reduce stress hormones like cortisol and increases endorphins which elevate mood and reduce feelings of anxiety.

– Improves mood: Exercise can improve your overall mood and reduce feelings of depression by increasing levels of serotonin and other neurotransmitters.

– Enhances self-esteem: Regular exercise can help you feel better about yourself by improving your self-image and self-confidence.

– Boosts brain function: Exercise can help improve memory, concentration, and overall cognitive function.

– Reduces symptoms of ADHD: Regular exercise can help reduce symptoms of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and improve focus and concentration.

– Improves sleep: Exercise can improve the quality of sleep, making it easier to fall asleep and stay asleep throughout the night.

– Relieves tension headaches: Exercise can help relieve tension headaches by reducing muscle tension and increasing blood flow to the brain.

– Helps manage addiction: Exercise can help manage addiction by providing a healthy distraction and reducing cravings.

– Provides social support: Participating in group exercise can provide a sense of social support and reduce feelings of isolation and loneliness.

– Improves overall quality of life: Exercise can improve overall quality of life by reducing the risk of chronic diseases, improving physical health, and enhancing mental health.

  1. I spent the day “exercising” doing yard work and it dramatically helped my emotional feeling. I may be a bit stiff today, but I am going to try and go out every day. I want to add in walking too. When I used to walk regularly it really helped in many areas, including getting to know my neighbors!!
